І. PRE-PRINTING PREPARATION. You can order all items or individual items without printing the print run.
1. Computer typesetting. As a rule, authors now bring texts of future books, brochures, directories, multi-page catalogs, etc., already in electronic form.

2. Editing. Proofreading services. At your request, professional editors and proofreaders will proofread the manuscript, polish the literary style, logic of presentation, semantic accents, etc.; correct syntactic, grammatical, and morphological errors; establish the uniformity of notations and abbreviations, titles, and other elements of the text; the system of highlighting, footnotes, references, numbering will be checked ...

3. Design, layout, layout. After the text material is prepared and checked, it must be laid out.
The designer will prepare a book page layout, develop a cover design, and insert the text.
He selects fonts and font size (letter size) so that the text is readable, there are no blank spaces on the page, etc.
All this is agreed with the customer.
At the same time, illustrations are placed. If the images are of acceptable electronic quality and the necessary programs, then there are no problems. If the photos are not suitable in quality or exist only on paper, then they will have to be scanned and processed.

4. When a book is planned for widespread distribution and sale for display in various library catalogs and bookstores, the book is assigned a bibliographic code ISBN (International Standard Book Number), a bibliographic index UDC, and an author's mark. They are used when searching for literature in library catalogs by content when arranging books on shelves in stores and warehouses, and when maintaining various information databases. This resulting code for the book is unique; it is, figuratively speaking, its international passport. Bibliographic indexes are usually not assigned for small-print publications of a purely practical nature, for example, family history books, postcards, or booklets for free distribution to interested persons. There are exceptions. For example, these indexes were assigned to the book "Odessa Rhapsody" (poems by Igor Pototsky and etchings by Gennady Garmider), which was published in a print run of only 10 copies but took a worthy place in the national libraries of France, Russia, Poland, etc.
5. For books planned for sale, it is necessary to indicate the number of author's (printed, conditional) sheets and the circulation and (if required) when it was signed for printing.
6. The finished layout can be printed.

7. For full-color publications (artists' catalogs), a color proof is made so that in case of color distortion, the entire circulation is not spoiled.
8. Reviewing. By the direction of publication, highly qualified specialists in a particular field will be selected to provide official reviews of a specific book, methodical manual, etc.
9. Actual printing of the book. Depending on the type and circulation of the product, printing is carried out digitally or offset. In modern conditions, it is possible to print a brochure, magazine, or book in a circulation of 1 copy to several thousand.

Running is applying a straight groove to a sheet of paper. It is necessary for subsequent folding along the line of paper with a density of more than 175 g/m² or cardboard. Running is performed if there is a possibility of damaging the applied image by ordinary folding; it protects the fold from cracking and the colorful layer, giving the printed product a neater appearance.
It is necessary to separate the concepts of running and folding since these are different processes: they are usually performed sequentially on other equipment. Running is performed using blunt disk knives or rectangular plates on a running machine, which presses and compacts the material (facilitating its further bending), partially destroying the bonds in fibrous materials. If the running line is perpendicular to the grain direction of the paper fiber, then the phenomenon of paper creasing may be observed with automatic running. In this case, performing manual running of prints is necessary since this ensures receiving higher-quality running lines.
